Here is my 2001 Mercury Sable.
I picked this car up for $700 for use as a
daily driver. I call this car my "Burner Car"
since I got it so cheap. Everything worked
good exept the heat and the drivers window.

First thing that needed done was fixing the heater.
After some testing, we found that the pipes going
to the heater core where rusted and cracked. It took
about an hour for us to remove the old lines and
install the new ones. The new coolant lines where
only $58.

Next up was the radio, gotta have some tunes. I bought
a decent MP3 capable radio with CD player. It will read
MP3's right off of a thumb drive in the USB slot.

Now the old radio is also part of the environmental
controls. So you just can't swap out the radio. I tried
cutting up the control panel and re wiring it so that I
could make my own adapter, but then I found that they
already make one and it's only $80. So I bought that.

The price looked high but it was worth the price. The kit
came with everything needed including an 8ft long wire
harness for connecting to the rear amp.

This car has those lovely rear struts where the spring
brakes and pops your tires. So I paid to have the rear
struts replaced for $750.

The rear seat has been replaced with a rear seat from
a Ford Torus. They are almost the same exact car. Now
I have fold down rear seats that give me access to the
trunk.

I added a custom divider in the trunk. This helps keep
all my supplies in one spot.

I took and replaced the front lower ball joints. The big
issue we had with those was that the auto parts store
forgot to give us an "Additional" ball joint puller so we
had to make our own.

I started having a problem with the car not starting after
a long hot drive. The engine would turn over and it will try
to fire but it would not run. Once I let the car sit for about
an hour, it would start up just fine. I had a friend turn the
key while I listened for the fuel pump. The fuel pump sounded
terrible! We used a fork lift with extensions to lower the tank
out of the car and then replaced the fuel pump.
That fixed the problem.
