Dungeon Studeo's Dodge Calibers |
I love my old truck, Love the Fiero but, I still need a reliable car for getting to work. I liked how roomy the Caliber is. No hitting your head on the ceiling Plenty of leg room and room for 5 people. I am now on my 4th Caliber.. |
My first one was a 2010 silver Caliber with the automatic CVT transmission. a genaric GM brand sticker. Had this one for about five years. Had a deer strike out in the middle of nowhere. Cused about $5k in damages. The insurance had it fixed |
Had an issue with the CVT overheating, turns out the Dip-stick tube for the "sealed" transmission was broken off and missing. I found a funnel that fit into the pipe and used that to keep the transmission full |
Did some playing around in the snow and found a curb in the parking lot.. Broke the lip right off my rim. Luckly the tire still held air and I was able to get the rim replaced. |
One time I slammed the brakes so hard that the brake lights would not turn off. Turns out that I had bent the brake pedal. The shop was able to replace it in a day. So now we know that its not just Fiero's that suffer from bent pedals! |
When I was between jobs I fell behind on payments, I think I was 3 mo. The finace company, Wellsfargo repossed the Caliber. They wouldn't let me catch up the loan to get the car back. It turned out that WellsFargo illegally repossed the car and I got a wopping $20 from the class action lawsuit.. |
After a year or two running around with other cars I got enough money to get another Caliber. This one was a 2011. I had to drive all the way to Wadsworth to find one. |
I put alot of miles on this car and went through a few tires :) |
I installed a tow hitch along with the wire harness. The wire harness converts the one wire back to the old 4 wire system for the trailers. You can use my Amazon Affiliate link to buy the same tow hitch: |
The radiator sprong a leak right near the radiator cap. Turns out you have to replace the Cap housing plus the two hoses. The hole part is $90! I found a billet aluminum part that fit perferct for less than $20! |
Sadly, this car got rear ended and totalled out. The rear passinger doors would now rub when you open and close them, giving a sign that the whole body is bent out of shap. I had to buy anothe Caliber which sucked since I had just had the suspention redone. |
I found another one at a good price down in Columbus. The same 2011 in dark grey that looks like black. I only had this one for about a year untill the CVT started slipping. Something about the high pressure pump failing. After doing some Youtube reseach I fouind that these "sealed" transmission Do in fact need to be serviced. One youtuber was changing oil and filters every 40k miles. |
The local repair place said it would be $6k to $8k to install a remanufactured (not new) CVT transmission!!! I told them, You do know that the car is only worth $4k right? She said, Yeah, we know. There's probally gonna be a class action lawsuit over those CVT transmissions. Well, I went and bought ANOTHER Caliber, this time with a manual transmission. |
It looks like I can get a junkyard CVT for under $1k, so that car is not a total lose. Might sell it cheap to someone that can fix it themselves since I don't have a good place to do that kind of work. |
I added the tow package to this latest Caliber. The older tow hitch did not want to budge since it has some rust on it. |
I have been thinking about making or buying a ground effects kit for the Caliber to make it look more like a ralley car. But it's not a high priority. Plus those are very exspensive. |
I still have my custome 2 x 4 wooden roof rack! Gotta love wood working! |
